How It All Began
In 1949, at the height of the polio epidemic, Dr. B.B. Neuchiller and Dr. John Tambone founded the McHenry County Chapter of Easter Seals in Woodstock to provide services to the disabled in McHenry County. While the spirit of our mission has remained unchanged since our founding, the name and facility has undergone some major transformations.
In 1994, our Board of Directors decided not to renew our franchise agreement with Easter Seals. The board felt our fundraising efforts could be put to better use by providing more therapy and nursing care for McHenry County. Our facility was known as Adult & Child Rehab Center until 2010, and continued to provide therapy services to the entire county.
Today, our clinic is known as Adult & Child Therapy Services (ACTS), and has developed into a non-profit outpatient facility offering physical, speech and occupational therapy to men, women and children of all ages and income levels in McHenry County and beyond. We are one of the few clinics in the area that provide Free Developmental Screenings for children ages 0-3 and Fall Risk Assessments and Individual Exercise Programs for seniors.
Although our name has changed, ACTS remains the same dependable therapy center you’ve always relied on to serve your health needs.
